Spring arrives quietly in Amsterdam. The light softens along the canals, windows open again, and the city slowly finds its rhythm after winter.
On Saturday mornings, bicycles return from neighbourhood markets with fresh tulips carefully balanced on the handlebars. At places like the Ten Katemarkt, just a short cycle from The Dylan, stalls fill with seasonal produce and flowers, marking the first signs of the new season. Along the canals, the first terraces fill with sunlight and the city begins to open again.
Few cities welcome spring quite like Amsterdam. It is not only a change of season you see, but something you feel throughout the city.
Join us as we rediscover the city through its spring rituals, tulip season, canal mornings, hidden ateliers and a selection of Dylan favourites, shared by our team.
A fresh start to the season

Spring rarely arrives all at once. It begins quietly. After the darker months of winter, the season invites a slower return to movement. Days feel lighter, mornings begin earlier, and the simple act of stepping outside can feel like a small reset.
In Amsterdam, this shift is easy to embrace. A walk along the canals replaces the rush of a busy morning, while the Vondelpark, just a short cycle away, offers a natural place to slow down. Our Hotel Manager, Sam Hilkens, recommends starting the day at KOF, just around the corner, continuing with a coffee in hand along the nearby canals.
Spring does not ask you to do more. It invites you to begin again, at your own pace. As our Rooms Division Manager Renée suggests, a visit to the Aesop store just around the corner offers a moment to experience its scents and textures more fully, before returning to the same sense of calm within our rooms.
Rediscovering Amsterdam in Spring

As the season settles in, Amsterdam reveals itself in different ways. The best moments come from wandering or pausing along the canals as the city moves around you.
As our Reservations & Revenue Manager Carol suggests, seeing the city from the water offers a different perspective, especially in the soft light of early morning or towards sunset, best enjoyed from a private salon boat.
Spring is also an ideal time to explore Amsterdam’s museums. While the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum remain essential, the Grachtenmuseum offers an interactive introduction to the city’s canals and how they shaped Amsterdam. For a quieter moment, our concierge Ronald recommends the Begijnhof, a secluded courtyard that reveals a different side of the city.
It is also the time when seasonal produce slowly returns to markets and menus across the city. Our Marketing Manager Emma often visits the Ten Katemarkt for its seasonal produce and flowers. As well as the Noordermarkt on Saturdays, set around the Noorderkerk, offers a lively atmosphere where tulips and seasonal produce begin to appear in abundance.
The Dutch Spring landscape

In the Netherlands, tulips have long been the symbol that spring has arrived. As the season unfolds, colour slowly returns to the landscape. Window sills fill with flowers and market stalls brighten with fresh bouquets.
While destinations such as Keukenhof offer a spectacular display of flowers, there are also quieter ways to experience this remarkable season. As our concierge Wim suggests, a visit to a local tulip grower offers a more personal way to experience the fields, away from the crowds.
For those staying in the city, our Human Resources Manager Simone recommends the blossom in the Amsterdamse Bos, a quieter way to experience spring, especially in the early morning.
The creative heart of the Nine Streets

Back in Amsterdam, spring is also the perfect time to explore the creative character of the city. Just steps from The Dylan lies the Nine Streets, a network of small canalside streets where galleries, ateliers and independent boutiques shape one of the most creative corners of Amsterdam.
For Max, our Director of Sales & Marketing, this part of the city is more than a neighbourhood. It is where guests discover galleries and artisans shaped by Dutch craftsmanship. He particularly recommends Anouk Beerents, known for her gilded mirrors that blend tradition with a contemporary sensibility.
After visiting the gallery, Max suggests continuing to Café Hoppe, where the city’s character has remained unchanged for generations, before stepping back outside for a walk along the nearby canals.
Spring at The Dylan: Spring Refresh
After a day spent exploring the city and the countryside beyond it, returning to The Dylan feels like a natural pause. Behind its historic façade on the Keizersgracht, the hotel reflects the rhythm of the season in subtle ways. Fresh tulips welcome guests in their rooms, while a curated selection of Aesop facial skincare invites a moment to slow down after a day outdoors.
It is these small moments that inspired what we call the Spring Refresh. Not a programme filled with obligations, but an invitation to experience the season at your own pace. The Spring Refresh package is designed to support this rhythm, which is available until 9th of May, starting from €1750 per 2 nights. Book directly or liaise with our reservations team for a personalized offer.
Spring Refresh is not about doing more. It is about rediscovering balance, and experiencing Amsterdam as it was meant to be felt.
Slowly. Elegantly. Effortlessly.
